reduction of cortisol, a hormone that builds up fat around the abdomen and contributes to stress. Exercise also boosts the immune system.
A recent study in the Journal of Applied Physiology found that moderate exercise decreased the incidence of upper respiratory tract infections by nearly thirty percent. Additionally, while type 2 (adult-onset) diabetes strikes 7.8% of Americans, a 2008 study by Evidence Based Medicine showed that proper nutrition and exercise can delay the disease. Even for those already diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, resistance and aerobic training can greatly improve glycemic function.
So what’s the first step to tackling that extra weight? Visit your physician for guidance and advice. Take advantage of all of your athletic club’s weight loss support. The more readily a new diet and exercise program fit into your life, the more likely you are to keep them there.
