Benefits of Oil Pulling Therapy

Oil pulling therapy works by absorbing toxins and chemicals through the blood vessels in the mouth and tongue. The process is very simple. Take a tablespoon of oil. The oils that I recommend the most are coconut oil or sesame oil and both should be high quality organic, cold-pressed, and unrefined.
You start by swishing the oil in your mouth for 20 minutes 1st thing every morning when your stomach is empty. If for some reason, you are not able to do it in the morning, make sure you do it on an empty stomach like right before lunch preferably not eating 4 hours prior to doing it. This is why morning time is the best. You do it even before you brush your teeth as afterwords you need to clean out the lingering toxins in the mouth. Don’t just let the oil sit in your mouth, swish it for 20 minutes through your teeth back and forth.
Some people have no problem doing it for 20 minutes but for others it takes a few times before they feel comfortable with it. If after a few minutes you feel the urge to spit the oil out, go ahead and spit it out and start all over again. Don’t make the process stressful, this is actually very simple. After 20 minutes, the oil turns milky white and watery and this is a good sign that you are pulling the toxins out of your body.
Few important facts to remember. Please don’t swallow this oil during any part of the oil swishing as it contains the toxins you are pulling from your body. If you feel you are getting an urge to swallow, just spit and start over. After a few times, you will start doing it without even thinking about it. 20 minutes will pass fast as you can do other things while doing it (I’ve learned to check my emails or clean around the house and the 20 min passes by quickly). After 20 minutes of oil swishing, spit the oil out and gargle your mouth throughly with warm salt water.
This is a natural therapy, please don’t expect to cure all of your problems immediately. Be patient with it. Do it a minimum of 2 weeks at a time and then take a break before starting again. Some people will see a difference within 3 days. It is not a scam, it does work, different people get different results with it. Oil Pulling or Swishing is part of Ayurvedic Healing and has been around for thousands of years. Oil therapy benefits have been documented and people have benefited from reducing or eliminating various diseases like migraine headaches, bronchitis, dental problems, blood disorders, skin disorders, heart disease, liver and kidney issues, and women hormonal health issues to name a few.
Oil pulling does not cure specific conditions although many people have reported of completely being cured for their specific diseases. It is a detoxifying technique that ultimately helps the body get rid of excess toxins and chemicals (which in my mind is the cause of dis-ease). At a minimum, most people immediately notice that their teeth are whiter and gums are healthier within 2-3 days of doing it.
When you look at addressing your issues with a holistic approach, you need to address other areas as well like emotional well-being, and your diet. Just this one technique of Oil pulling, no matter how powerful it is, may not address your physical problems without addressing your emotional health, diet, and exercise. If you lead a healthy lifestyle, this is one healing technique that can have amazing benefits.
