Earl Pearson, Jr. Wins the "GNC Buckeye 50" For His Third Xtreme Series Win Of The Season!!! (So Far, So...OHIO Good!)

(Dunn, NC, July 07, 2004) With four of a planned six+ race events planned for Ohio now in the books, Earl Pearson, Jr. and his Lucas Oil Products / Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team are very pleased with their success thus far. Pearson began this tour swing with round 1 of the the "GNC Live Well Stores 2nd Annual Ohio Speedweek" at the Muskingum County Speedway, Zanesville, OH with a near win, 2nd place finish to Donnie Moran whose win lead was less than a second.

With a two day break in Xtreme action Pearson, Jr. and the team decided to pay the World Of Outlaws series a visit for two nights of racing action where he and the team secured a 5th and a 2nd place finish, but perhaps one of the most satisfying accomplishments came about on the second night at Challenger Raceway, Indiana, PA where Pearson, Jr. went out and set a new track record in qualifying on X series Good Year Eagles in the open tire rule event! Pearson Jr. laid claim to his third Stacker2® Xtreme DirtCar Series victory of the season Tuesday night pocketing the $10,000 to win “GNC Buckeye 50” at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, the second leg of the Stacker2® XDCS/ Northern Xtreme DirtCar Series sanctioned “GNC Live Well Stores 2 nd Annual Ohio Speedweek”. Starting from the pole the driver of the Lucas Oil/Dunn-Benson Ford No. 1 Team, Rocket Chassis, Larry Wallace Racing Engines Ford Taurus took the lead from Jimmy Mars in heavy lapped traffic on lap 16 only to have the current “YJ Stinger Cup” points leader regain the spot back on the next lap. Pearson Jr. then took advantage of a Mars slip in turn four while working lap 27 to take the lead back which he would never give up. Mars rode home second nearly two car lengths behind Pearson Jr. with Keith Berner third, Matt Miller fourth and Donnie Moran fifth. “It really feel''s good to be standing here in the ‘YJ Stinger Victory Lane'' again”, stated Pearson Jr. “This Lucas Oil / Dunn-Benson Ford worked like a champ tonight. I''ve gotta'' thank all my sponsors, the crew and my car owners Carlton and Kemp Lamm. Without them none of this would be happening.” When asked if he was worried about getting back past Mars after leading just one lap before Mars regained the lead back Pearson Jr. told the large crowd on hand, “I knew it was gonna'' be tough to get back past Jimmy. He just made that one mistake down there in four with that lapped car that gave me the break I needed. I knew he was probably a little bit better than me in traffic and I was worried there until that caution came out with three to go. That opened the track up for us and here we are. The Goodyear Eagles worked great on this track. The track was real nice and smooth, slick but it was smooth. I want to thank Stacker2®, Goodyear, Gemini, Lucas Oil, and all of the series sponsors. They''ve done a great job. And, the fans here at Wayne County, thanks for coming out and supporting us!” For a complete run-down on the above mentioned Stacker2® Xtreme DirtCar Series events, please read the following press links:

There remains at least two more Stacker2® Xtreme DirtCar Series events on this swing and possibly one or two more other added events as long as no rain date make up dates play into their travels. "So Far, So....OHIO Good!!!"
